Hi Drum People,
Here we go.
We hope to do a weekly entry in our news/blog page to keep you up to date on things happening at the store & your thoughts on products on the market.
We might have a few extra blogs to start as there's so much to share with you.
1st I would like to thank those who have popped in so far & everyone who has liked the page and will be coming in to see us in this new year, thanks for the really up building response. When you consider such an under taking as a drum store in a small town, when so many shops are closing the thoughts of madness & 'what are you doing you idiot', plague you each night when you should be resting for the next days work.
The regular 3am wake ups designing the layout of the shop, worrying if anyone will come, dreaming of a shop covered in dust like some abandoned wonderland photo and people saying " I told you so". All this without a drop of alcohol, well a glass of wine maybe.
When a new store opens its stereotypical to "thank everyone for the support that's overwhelming etc etc" so I'd rather say thank you for the way you have responded to the shop & the way everyone has shown they are really happy to have such a place in the area.
Its not a matter of thousands at the door for opening day but realistically a gentle build up of a strong customer base that's loyal to the store. This takes longer but is built on solid rock rather than sand.
My thanks also go for the way folk have responded to me personally, this is the first time I have done any retail type business and yes when you are working crazy hours to build the shop you suffer with paranoia that no one will like the shop, the products and no one will like you so its going to fail. If you take a risk in life all the worries kick you in the face every day until you open that little door and welcome people in for the first time.
So this is why I really do appreciate the warmth, enthusiasm, feedback from the drummers and I am sure friendships will be made as we develop the store.
When you embark on the model of shop we are trying to achieve you have to work very hard for many hours with very little reward and the only reason we can even consider this business is the steel workshop keeping the funds ticking over. We are very fortunate also to have some very good business customers who use our services every month.
We have something in the drum store that can succeed with local support and the engineering shop running along side of the drum store builds strength in depth. The engineering shop will then be able to push the drum store to new levels product levels.
So for my 1st official blog post thank you and with your support we in return can give you a cracking little drum store that any town or city would be happy to have.
The little shop can do it against the big guns if its quirky, exciting and competitive.
